Most early-stage founders fly blind. They're drowning in spreadsheets, guessing at unit economics, and making decisions based on gut feel. Pentane changes that.

We're a small, growing SaaS company building tools that turn messy financial, sales, and marketing data into clear, actionable insights. Our platform tells founders exactly what's working, what's not, and what to do next.

We're hiring our first internal engineer to help us ship faster and expand what's possible.

‍

What you'll do

‍

• Own features end-to-end - from database schema to React UI to deployment
• Build data pipelines that process financial and advertising data from dozens of integrations
• Design and consume APIs (internal services, payment processors, ad platforms, accounting tools)
• Write code that's tested, documented, and built to last
• Pair with our senior engineers on architecture decisions

This isn't a ticket-taking role. You'll have real input on what we build and how we build it. Your work matters…a lot.

What we're looking for

‍

• 2+ years of professional software experience (or equivalent depth from internships/projects)
• Strong fundamentals in a typed language - Java, TypeScript, C#, or similar
• Experience building web apps with React
• Comfort working with APIs: designing them, consuming them, debugging auth flows
• Clear communication - you can explain technical tradeoffs to non-engineers
• Genuine curiosity about how businesses work (you'll learn a lot about finance and operations here)

Bonus points:

‍

• Experience with financial data, AI, analytics, or data visualization
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP)
• You've worked at an early-stage company before

You’ll work directly with our founder, a serial entrepreneur with decades of startup experience, multiple exits, and drive to help you grow and develop.

• $80K–$100K base depending on experience - this is the base, not the limit

• Flexible PTO with a Floor, not a Ceiling: We offer an unlimited vacation policy, but we track it to ensure you take enough time. We expect every engineer to take a minimum of 15 days off per year (in addition to holidays) to recharge and prevent burnout. We believe rested brains write better code.

Your first 90 days are structured onboarding - you'll ship real code in week one, own a project by month two, and have full context on our codebase and customers by month three.
